It may sound kinda strange to many, but I've never lived in a place with ceiling fans in my entire life i.e. from the day I was born! My parents somehow prefer electronic desk fans or standing fans, so I myself don't install ceiling fans in all my abodes either.

I personally find ceiling fans hard to clean and they look somewhat oppressive from below and are in fact, quite dangerous! Ceiling fans remind me of 血滴子 I saw in one TVB drama 大内群英 when I was very young. Indeed, those propellers/blades remind me of guillotine... :nailbite:

But I adore those with wooden/rattan blades as they look very ''Straits Settlements'' and "Long Bar". Nice for the verandah.

Ceiling fans are actually most prevalent in Southeast Asia - probably due to our hot and humid weather.
My PRC friends are aghast at ceiling fans - they think it is too liang and that it's no good for body to experience any wind movement.
Ceiling fans are also not too common in Europe / US - many households don't have ceiling fans. In the UK, most ceilings are very low to conserve on heating. I didn't have any ceiling fans when living in the US and UK.

I cannot live without ceiling fans in Singapore. The cleaning is way easier than a traditional standing or desk fan where you have to clean covers, remove covers to get to blades etc. Also, ceiling fans do not take up space nor are there wires dangling on the floors etc. I love the look. Super neat.

We used standing fans in our matrimonial flat - didn’t install any ceiling fans at that time due to superstition etc.

But…tried several brands of standing fans including KDK…every single year for 5-6 years, the standing fans all broke down one after another due to constant use. The other problem was the covering grilles trap so much dust and have to be cleaned so often.

Once we moved house, decided to take the leap to install all ceiling fans and that really changed our quality of life for the better. We have never regretted & never going back to standing fans. Standing fans really pale in comparison - in terms of the breeze and also the above factors.

You would surely have sat under a KDK fan in your school classrooms growing up, as well as in your school canteen, as have millions of children in MOE schools across SG over the generations. Very safe.

Lots of ceiling fans at hawker centres too.
School classrooms, canteens etc all have ceiling fans.
Airing the house - open windows and blast ceiling fans - love it :)

I m using one ceiling fan in my current house. I do have worries sometimes. I don't quite mind them breaking down after 5 or 6 years coz then I feel a more newly fixed one or a repaired one probably makes me feel safer. Ceiling fan above bed I don't think will try it though.

oh! Your requirements are easy as you only need fans without lights. Anything would work, really. The labour is substantial and it'll be good to change multiple fans at one go as electricians tend to charge a min call charge. And its also easier to call on the same guy for rectification or balancing if there is a need to.

After trying different fans, I still like white ones best.
Only the living room will have a fan without lights. We've had fans with lights attached in the bedrooms all these years. My husband prefers them separate for maintenance/replacement issues (we like things to last very long!), but I can't see where to put lights to illuminate a room well and evenly if the ceiling fan takes pride of place. I think we'll still go for the combination in the bedrooms.
