When my husband was planning to go on further studies, I tried very hard to dissuade him from applying to CA universities. He did apply to one, but I think got rejected (whew!). My reasoning is that there is really no point going somewhere that's waiting for the "big one"! History nearly repeated itself when my daughter was applying for universities, but she didn't apply to any in CA - she said it was a vacation destination in her mind, not somewhere to go to study! One of her best friends is there, though. Years ago, we lived in Darwin for a year, where we had to prepare a "cyclone kit" just in case. We had our power knocked out once or twice for short periods, but never had to resort to the kit.

I beg to differ.. California is one of the nicest states to be in. Good food, good weather. Easy for Asians like us to adapt to. I would definitely encourage my children if there’s any interest in going there for further studies.

I’ve read and watched documentaries on the “big one” but when you are there, life is really pretty normal and people don’t fear that.

For information , found this on nus web page abt joint application portal for the 6 local university. The deadline for acceptance is 24 May for all .
So far , smu is v fast in offer and sending reminders to parents as well , marketing team is prompt …still waiting to see nus what to offer for ds.

“Please note that the University will not be sending you an acknowledgement email or confirmation letter after you have submitted your online acceptance. Applicants can log in to the Applicant Portal 4 working days after the online acceptance deadline to view your acceptance.

You should read the instructions for acceptance carefully at the Acceptance Portal and electronic offer letter.

The Common Acceptance Platform is only applicable to applicants with the following qualifications and application number starting with ‘1’, ‘3’, ‘4’ or ‘6’:
1) Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level; and
2) Polytechnic Diploma from Singapore; and
3) International Baccalaureate Diploma; and
4) NUS High School Diploma.

My DS has received offers from both NTU and NUS about a month ago.

But have not received any news about her scholarship applications yet.

Since there is still time to accept the offer, we will just bide our time.

Meanwhile, my DS and her friends have received an invitation from NTU to attend an event this weekend.

So likely which Uni is she going to choose?
Mine waiting for nus Sch of computing , smu early early offered, we had received marketing gifts for students as well as marketing letter specially addressed to parents, their marketing dept very ON to seal the deal.
not sure whether other nus popular courses results out already ?

I have no knowledge of mass comm, nus or ntu what’s the diff.
