IP, IB vs A Levels

Unlike entry to Primary Schools, admission into Secondary Schools is based on meritocracy. PSLE results are used as key admission criteria. Discuss everything related to PSLE and selection of Secondary Schools here.

Just thinking, for students to go local school IB,

PSLE -IB
OP - IB
IP then transfer to OP (same school trf) -IB

any more? So that students have options..

Just thinking also..is this possible? Some students are intelligent and also able to score in exam. Some students are intelligent but not (always) able to score in exam. Having more than 1 path may help to 'scoop' these kids ?

Read somewhere here that school fees for IB is expensive/more expensive. What is the school fee for doing IB in the 2 local schools?
Both ACSI(IB) and SJI(IB) are independent schools. Independent school fees but just realised they are slightly higher than RI and HCI for year 5 and 6. But there are subsidies for different income by MOE, so not to worry, kids from lower income will not miss out.

The hike is not something most cannot afford, lesser than monthly tuition fees

For citizens, monthly fees,
year 1-4. Year 5-6
ACSI 385 500
SJI 340. 550
RI 335. 335. (Eg For comparison)

Yes, most kids who is able to score in exam will choose A level. At least for those I know.
But for those otherwise, there is no guarantee that they will do better in alternative path. Dependent on the growth and eventual maturity of kids

Actually I find it ok also..just that like what some parents suggested be more transparent and it is up to all to choose which is suitable/best for them. Good to have more than 1 route imho.

Exactly, you are right. So cost is not the key issue and financial aids provided should be able to assist those who need it.

No one is not fine with the other path too.

All these years this has been the situation. Those who will choose ib had done so. Without all these fuss abt transparency. Nothing is stopping anyone to choose too.

The suggestion that one exam is harder will influence more people to switch. When more top kids esp switch out if A levels, can help make A level less competitive, what this fuss is abt. Those eventually stay in A level will do better.
