UPDATE: Baby dies after abuse by maid
SERDANG - A 15-MONTH-OLD baby died after being allegedly abused by a maid.
It is learnt that the incident occurred at 4pm last Friday when a relative found the only child unconscious in his Puchong home.
The 25-year-old Indonesian maid was believed to have called the victim's father to tell him that his son had fallen ill and was unconscious. The father, a businessman, asked his relative who lived nearby to rush his son to a private hospital.
However, baby Tan Jin Yang was pronounced dead upon arrival. Serdang OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Elias said the case was earlier classified as sudden death. Following the results of the post-mortem done at the Serdang Hospital, police discovered several elements of foul play.
It is learnt that the child had strangulation marks on his neck; suffered internal brain haemorrhage and had bruises believed to be from being kicked or stepped upon as well as lung infection.
'We've re-classified the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder... We are on the lookout for the maid to help in investigations,' said Supt Abdul Razak. He added that the maid had been working with the family for nearly two years. -- THE STAR/ANN

Maid arrested at job interview :x
KUALA LUMPUR - AN INDONESIAN maid who went on the run after being accused of murdering her Malaysian employer's baby son has been arrested after coolly lining up an interview for a new job, police said Friday.
Police have been hunting for the 25-year-old woman, from Java in Indonesia, after the 15-month-old boy died last week and a post-mortem examination indicated foul play.
She was arrested after approaching a family in suburban Kuala Lumpur asking for a job. They recognised her from her picture in the newspaper and alerted police, Ampang district police chief Abdul Jalil Hassan told AFP.
'She went to one of the houses, carrying a plastic bag with some clothes and was asking for a job,' Abdul Jalil said.
'She told the family that she ran away from her employer as she could no longer work with them.' 'The family noticed she looked similar to the suspect wanted by police in connection to the baby murder case and alerted us. We went to the house and detained the woman,' he said.
Malaysia is one of Asia's largest importers of labour and depends heavily on domestic workers, who come mainly from Indonesia. There are no laws governing their working conditions, and cases of abuse, non-payment and even murder of domestic workers are much more common than incidents of maids committing crimes. -- AFP

I thought the same too.vicki wrote:Actually i was reading the news and i got angry with the parents.
It was said that the parents kindof suspected abuse of the kid before (when the kid fractured his leg and was sent to the doctor).
WHY DID THEY STILL ALLOW THE MAID TO CONTINUE TAKING CARE OF THE KID???! :x :x
