Dear Parents

Can anyone help with the following question?

A class has an equal number of boys and girls. Half of the boys and 15 girls do not wear glasses. 12 pupils in the class wear glasses. How many pupils are there in the class?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

there are equal number of boys and girls. Total number of students = 4u, 1u = half the boys.

so, 3u = 12 + 15 = 27, 1u = 9

Total number of students in the class = 9 x 4 = 36

cheers.

Use the number 1 to 9 to form a three digits number minus a three digit number and the answer is also a three digit number. Each number can only be used once. How many solution can u find? Is there any quick way to get the answer?

Hi

Find the common factors for 102 and 54...

54 = 1 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 6 x 9
102 = 1 x 2 x 3 x 17 = 6 x 17

Since each side of W is a whole number, each side = 6 cm, area = 36 cm2
So, area of V = 17 x 9 = 153 cm2
V-W= 153 - 36 = 117 cm2

cheers.
