If Raffles Institution Primary School offers my boy a place, I would gladly donate the unnecessary books and uniform to anyone who needs it
Well, I once overheard a grandparent refer to her granddaughter’s school as “Raffles Primary”.

Maybe the percentage of the girls moving up to RGS is close to 80% despite no affiliation?

80 or even up to 100 numbers, very possible - taking into account the class of GEP students and the generally higher SES skew of the student populace.

80%, on the other hand, not possible lah. For a school with 270 intake, you are looking at more than 200 students achieving > 260 or AL6.

Different schools, different process.

Notwithstanding, anecdotal evidences suggest that most, if not all, schools do not accept transfer from P5, unless for special reasons.

Just call up
those schools that u are interested in to transfer your kid to,
ask them to send you the "Transfer Application " form by email, assuming that the form is not found available on the school website.

( If the Form is already available on website, then no need to call lah )

Fill up the Transfer Application form and submit to the school Admin, after Admin tell you that got vacancies arise for your P3 level.
If Admin say Sorry, no vacancy arise for P3 currently at this time of the year, then no need to submit any Form,

because

how can Transfer take place if no vacancy arise for your level you want, right ? Just ask Admin when is a good time, to apply for Transfer then : is it still within this year, or next year ?

There is no limit to the number of schools, to seek Transfer into. So, u can submit Transfer forms to as many schools, as u wish. Inside the Form, they will ask you for :

"Reason(s) to request for Transfer, into our school." Just be honest, tell the truth.

If got vacancies arise and if your kid get short-listed for Transfer after processing all the Applications submitted, the school will contact u, in due time.

I’m guessing, the mass movement of kids should occur during the end of p3, as selected kids move on to gep center, which will free up precious spots in the school.

imagine the musical chair scenario, a few empty chairs sets off a domino effect down the chain of schools. (To the more sought after from the lesser known)

So, plan well before the end of p3.

My personal take only.

Hi fellow parents, my child is in P2 now and I am hoping to transfer her to another school in the next 1-2 years. As there are always limited vacancies for school transfers, may I know if the child stands a higher chance if she has won some awards such as Edusave/education merit and model pupil award etc? Thanks in advance!

That definitely will add Brownie points……

2 years ago, my sons were offered seats in a coveted Christian Schools, after the elder passed Rd 1 GEP, but didnt get
Thru Rd 2… The GEP rejection letter, till now, we think, was what opened the door.
