Hi ozora

Good Morning.

Please check your source for the last sentence.

For this question, use a common multiple of 40u (5, 10 and 8).

2/5 of her beads were black ----- 16u

1/10 of her beads were blue ----- 4u

The remaining beads were red ----- 20u

The number of red beads used for each purse was 1/8 of the total number of beads. ----- 5u

I am taking the question as number of purses decorated with red beads.

Number of purses decorated with red beads ----- 20/5 ----- 4.

The slide is meant to be a guide, I'll leave it to your kid to fill out the details.

Besides MD, you may also use solve this question using fractions.

1 – 2/5 -1/10 ----- 1/2

1/2 /1/8 ----- 4 (number of purses decorated with red beads )

Hope this helps.

Best wishes

Hi, could someone help to solve the following question without using the guess & check method
or algebra simultaneous method.

Q) Mrs. Yip bought minced chicken. She packed the chicken equally into
packets of 1/5 kg each. If she packs it equally into packets of 1/8 kg each,
she will get 12 more packets of minced chicken. How many kg of minced chicken
did she buy?

Thanks.

Use Assumption method.

Assuming she bought all walnut muffins,

Total costs --> $3.90 * 74 = $288.60

Actual amount she paid = $308.40

Difference in amount --> 308.40 - 288.60 = 19.80

Difference in price between walnut and caramel muffin = 4.50 - 3.90 = 0.60

19.80 / 0.60 --> 33 ( this is the number of caramel muffin bought)

Number of walnut muffin bought = 74 - 33 = 41

Walnut muffin --> 41
Caramel muffin --> 33

Hi !
Any one could help me with my DD Maths problem? I tried to solve it but cannot.

The mass of a bottle completely filled with oil is 5 kg. When it is 1/4 full, its mass is 1.4 kg. Find the mass of the empty bottle.

Thank you all in advance.

Thank you all in advance.
3/4 of the oil --> 3.6kg(5 - 1.4)
Thus 4/4 of the oil will weigh 4.8kg
Hence, the empty bottle weighs 0.2kg (5-4.8)
