Singapore Schools Sports Council Colours Awards 2016

1. More than 8,000 students from secondary schools, junior colleges, and centralised institute were awarded the Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) Colours Awards this year, in recognition of their sporting achievements and display of good sporting character and values.

2. Into its 46th year, the 2016 SSSC Colours Awards were given out to:

  • 8,393 students from 144 schools with the SSSC Colours Award

  • 456 students from 76 schools with the SSSC Colours Award (Distinction), including four para athletes who represented Singapore at the 8th ASEAN Para Games, and

  • 47 students from 21 schools with the SSSC Best Sportsboy Award and SSSC Best Sportsgirl Award.


3. The criteria for winning the awards are listed in Annex A.

4. Recipients of the SSSC Best Sportsboy and Best Sportsgirl Awards will receive their awards at the SSSC Colours Award Presentation this afternoon. The recipients for the awards are listed in Annex B.

Closing of 2016 National School Games

5. The SSSC Colours Awards Presentation also marked the closing of the 2016 National School Games (NSG)1 , which saw the involvement of approximately 58,000 students in the pursuit of sporting excellence.

  1. The 2016 NSG commenced on 26 January 2016. Over nine months, students participated in the 28 sports and games competitions organised under the auspices of the Singapore Schools Sports Council and 21 sports under the Singapore Primary Schools Sports Council.
