Singapore Schools Sports Council Colours Awards 2017

1. More than 8,400 students from secondary schools, junior colleges, and centralised institute will be awarded the Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) Colours Awards this year, in recognition of their sporting achievements and display of good sporting character and values.

2. Into its 47th year, the SSSC Colours Awards 2017 will be presented to:

  • 50 students from 18 schools, who will receive the SSSC Best Sportsboy Award and SSSC Best Sportsgirl Award;

  • 469 students from 70 schools, who will receive the SSSC Colours Award (Distinction); and

  • 8,408 students from 134 schools, who will receive the SSSC Colours Award.

3. The criteria for winning the awards are listed in Annex A.

4. Recipients of the SSSC Best Sportsboy and Best Sportsgirl Awards will receive their awards at the SSSC Colours Award Presentation this afternoon. These recipients are listed in Annex B.

Closing of 2017 National School Games

5. The SSSC Colours Awards Presentation also marks the closing of the 2017 National School Games (NSG)1, which saw the involvement of approximately 58,000 students in the pursuit of sporting excellence.

  1. The NSG 2017 commenced on 10 January 2017. Over nine months this year, students participated in 28 different sports and games competitions organised under the auspices of the Singapore Schools Sports Council and 21 sports under the Singapore Primary Schools Sports Council.
