Hi, any idea why the answer is (2)?
Hi, any idea why the answer is (2)?
3 similar iron rods does not mean they are exactly the same.
iron rods will be attracted to a magnet on either side
only magnetic iron rods has polarity of N and S
So AB is an iron rod but CD and EF are both magnets
Hence, regardless of end A or end B, they will both be attracted to a magnet on either end.
Since D repel E, they are magnets and it means that say, C is N and D is S, then E is S and F is N
So in conclusion, answer is (2)
end A, attract with end F because EF is a magnet and A is one end of an iron rod
end B, attract with end F because EF is a magnet and B is one end of an iron rod
end C, repel because C is N and F is N
End D, attract because D is S and F is N
Great answer, but I’m not sure if it is a fair question.
If an unmagnetised magnet rod sticks to a magnet, doesn’t it become magnetized with a north-south pole too? The question did not say the rods are separated before the test is conducted on the rods separately.
I think that should be stated.
Thank you so much sushi88.. god bless you. ;))
