Actually part (a) guess one. How to use logic to do this kind of question. How to find part (b) ? Thanks for helping!

(a)  Think your answer is good as PQ = AD and QR = BC, so PR must be equal to 2 * AB which makes perfect sense.

(b) Area of ABCD = 2 * ( triangle ABC ) = 2 * 1/2 * (5 * 1) = 5 unit square.

 

So Area of triangle PQR = 3*4 – 2 * 1/2 * 1 * 3 – 1/2 * 4 * 2

= 12 – 3 -4 = 5 unit squares

  Area of ABCD : Area of Triangle PQR = 1 : 1

Note : Area of triangle PQR is calculated by the rectangle that has corner on P minus of the sum of the 3 triangles in the rectangle that excludes triangle PQR.
