So in 4 minutes the machine can seal 128 cans.

(b) Note: there are 2 ways to solve this, as the line is straight , the number of cans seal per minute is the gradient of the line and can get directly by finding the number of cans sealed in the 1 minute x axis mark. Or you can find by getting from any time, for example 2 minutes and then divide the number of cans’ sealed reading by 2 minutes.

32 cans/ minute          if read from 1 minute.

5 minutes 160 cans.

So 160/5 = 32 cans/minute

(c) Time taken = Number of cans sealed/ rate per minute

= 480/32

= 15 minutes
