Question

Answer

Volume of water in tank A = 45 * 12 * (46 – 27 ) + 20 * 12 * 27

= 10260 + 6480

 = 16740 cm³

Volume of tank B = 20 * 18 * 23 = 8280 cm³

Base area of tank A + base area of tank B = 45 *12 + 20 * 18 = 540 + 360 = 900 cm²

Height of water in both tanks = 16740/900 = 18.6 cm

Note: The answer 18.6cm is correct only if it is less than  (46 – 27 ) = 19 cm, height of the bottom tank A. If the height is above 19 cm, the base area is different for upper part of tank A and needs recalculation for ansewr.
