Patrick used 4/7 of his money to buy 9 erasers and 5 pens. The cost of 3 erasers was the same as that of 2 pens. What was the greatest number of pens that Patrick could buy with the money he had left?
How to do?
Tks

Answer

Cost of 3 erasers is equal to cost of 2 pens.

If Patrick had $ 7u , $ 4u can use to buy 9 erasers and 5 pens.

9 erasers is equal to 6 pens.

So $ 4u can buy 11 pens.

Remaing money of 3u can buy  11/4u * 3u = 8 1/4 pens.

Since you can’t buy 1/4 pen, Patrick remaining money can buy 8 pens.
