(a) Gwen has a total of white and green containers. If Gwen has u white containers, he has ( 10 – u) green containers.

The number of clips in Gwen’s white containers are 30u and Gwen’s green containers are 60(1 – u).

the difference is

30u – 60 (10 – u) = 30u – 600 + 60u = 90u – 600

Obviously this number is the least when u = 7 , the difference is 30.

Gwen has 7 white containers and 3 green containers for minimum difference in the clips.

(b) If Clement has n blue containers, he has 50n clips in blue containers. And he has   50n*3/2= 75n clips in white containers. Number of white containers = 75n/30 = 5n/2 = 2.5n

Clement’s total containers = n + 2.5n= 3.5n

Blue containers/ total containers = n/(3.5n)= 2/7
