Question

Hihi, ca any experts help me this P5 qn – need model drawing + solution?

There were some chicken wings and fishballs in a packet. After 2/7 of the chicken wings were taken out from the packet, there were 3/10 as many chicken wings as fishballs in the packet. If there were 50 fishballs, how many chicken wings were there in the packet at first?

Answer

After taking out chicken wings, there are
  = 3/10 as many chicken wings as fishballs
  = 3/10 x 50 = 15 chicken wings.

We know that 2/7 was taken out, that is 2u/7u.
So remaining chicken wings is 5u. That means
5u = 15 and u = 3.

At the beginning there were 7u = 7 x 3 = 21 chicken wings.

CHECK:
  2/7 chicken wings taken out = 2/7 x 21 = 6.
  Left with 21 - 6 = 15 chicken wings.
  15/50 = 3/10
