Question

Answer

There are 2 ways you can approach this.

Guess and Check
Since the numbers are easily factored, we can guess:

That means the volume is 8 x 5 x 6 = 240 cm3.

Compute volume using formula

We know 40 = L x W, 48 = L x H and 30 = W x H.
Noticed that if we multiply all the numbers together, we get:
  40 x 48 x 30 = L x W x L x H x W x H = (L x W x H)2 = volume2
So volume = sqrt(40 x 48 x 30) = 240 cm3.

The great thing about the second method is that it works even if
they give your surface areas that are not easy to factorize.
