Question

Any help is appreciated to solve this P5 maths question.

The ratio of the number of lilies to the number of flower pots to the number of roses is 3:10:5.Find the number of flower pots. The total number of flowers are 562.

Answer

lilies:pots:roses = 3:10:5 = 3u:10u:5u
So we can let lilies = 3u, pots = 10u and roses = 5u

Since flowers = lilies + roses = 3u + 5u = 8u = 562,
we know that u = 562/8 = 70.25.

That means number of pots = 10u = 702.5.... erm, half a pot?

I think there might be something wrong with the question. :-)
