Answer

Hi,

This is a Remainder question.

We shall first list out the information.

  Sold  sold  Left  Total
Monday  3u   4u 7u
Tuesday    1 1 2
CR 6u 4u 4u 14u

So after Tuesday, he left with 4u out ofor 14u.

4/14 = 2/7

He baked another 732 cookies.

The last ratio become 1 : 2.

      14u / 1 = (4u + 732)/2

       28u = 4u + 732

      28u – 4u = 732

     24u = 732

    1u = 30.5

    14u = 14 × 30.5 = 427

On Monday, he baked 7u cookies.

On Tuesday, he sold 3/7 x 7u = 3u cookies; left 4u cookies

On Wednesday, he sold 1/2 x 4u = 2u cookies; left 2u cookies

(a) He had 2u/7u = 2/7 of his cookies left

On Thursday, he baked another 732 cookies -> he had 2u + 732;

and had twice of what he had on Monday.

Twice of what he had -> 14u

14u = 2u + 732

12u = 732

1u = 61

On Monday, he baked 7u -> 7 x 61 = 427 cookies
