Hi,

We shall first tabulate the information.

Ken bought some books and then 2 more books.

buy 1 buy 2  total
Quantity 1u 2  1u + 2
 Each 3.5
Product 3.5u 12 4u + 8

3.5u + 12 = 4u + 8

12 – 8 = 4u – 3.5u

0.5u = 4

1u = 8

8 + 2 = 10 books

The beauniful feature about table is that you may calculate vertically or horizontally.
