Question

Answer

First, recognize that the height of all the triangles = breath of rectangle

Area A + Area C = area of half of rectangle (since total of base A and base C = length of rectangle)

Shaded area + Area B = area of half of rectangle

Therefore, A + C = Shaded area + B

A + C + B = Shaded area + 20 cm2

A + C = Shaded area + 20 cm– B

Shaded area + BShaded area + 20 cm– B

2B = 20 cm2

B = 10 cm2
