Question

sam has 30 nuggets and fishball at first. he exchanged all his nugget for fishball. he has 48 fishball after changing every 1 nugget for 2 fishball. how many fishball does he has at first?

Answer

Let’s say Sam has 30 nuggets and 0 fishball.

  Nugget Fishball Total
At first 30 0 30
Exchange 1 nugget 29 2 31
Exchange 2 nuggets 28 4 32

As you can see, every exchange of 1 nugget for 2 fishballs increases the total by 1.

So, from 30 to 48, she has a gain of (48 – 30) = 18 items.

These additional 18 cam from exchanging 18 nuggets to fishballs.

Number of fishballs at first -> (30 – 18) = 12
