on day 2, 8 more participant joined the camp and all the participants were then rearranged to form new groups, each group had 10 participants and there were 3 more groups than day 1.

on both days, no participant left the camp. how many participant were there at the camp on day 2?

Answer

Suggested answer:

On Day 2, there is 3 extra group. 10 participants each.

Total 30 participants, of which 8 are newly joined, while 22 from the existing group as the no of participants in each group reduced from 12 to 10.

On day 1, no. of group was 22 / 2 = 11 groups.

On day 2, no of group was 11 groups + 3 groups= 14 groups

14 x 10 = 140

Total participants will be 140.

(number of groups – 3) x 12 + 8 ——- (number of group) x 10
number of groups ——- (3 x 12 – 8)/2 = 14
number of participants on Day 2 ——- 14 x 10 = 140

Ans : 140 participants.
