Question

2/3 of Eileen’s beads is equal to 4/7 of Farah’s beads. Find the ratio of number of beads Eileen has to the number of beads Farah has.

Answer

2/3 = 4/6 of Eileen’s beads = 4/7 of Farah’s beads
ratio of number of beads Eileen has to the number of beads Farah has is 6 : 7

Ans : 6 : 7.

If 2/3 of Eileen’s is and same amount as 4/7 of Farahs. It mean the 2 parts of Eileen has the same number of beads as Farah’s 4 parts.  We should made them (the 2 parts and 4 parts) share common unit.  The method to do this is common numerator,

LCM of 2 and 4 is 4.

2/3 => 4/6  for Eileen.  

and 4/7 for Farah.. 

Which means total beads Eileen has is 6 parts. And Farah has 7 Parts is total.

Eileen : Farah => 6 : 7 ##
