100u – 40u = 60u ——- 60 x 0.0525 = 3.15

Ans : (a) 25%; (b) 3.15 kg.

If Box K can hold 1o units, Box J can hold 16 units.

Sand poured into Box K will be:

40% of Box K = 4 units

4 units / 16 units x 100% = 25%

a) Percentage of Box J filled with sand will be 25%.

 

Remaining units in J => 16 unit – 4 units = 12 units

12 units = 6.3 kg

1 unit = 0.525 kg.

6 units => 0.525 kg x 6 =3.15 kg

b) Additional sand to fill up Box K will be 3.15 kg.
