Answer

3/5 of Zechariah’s share was equal to 1/3 of the total of Jake’s and Valerie’s share,
Z : (J + V) : Total
5 : 9 : 14
15 : 27 : 42

2/3 of Jake’s share was equal to 1/3 the total of Zechariah’s and Valerie’s share,
J : (Z + V) : Total
3 : 6 : 9
1 : 2 : 3
14 : 28 : 42

42 – 14 – 15 = 13 (V)
15 – 13 = 2
2u ——- 30
1u ——- 30/2 = 15
42 x 15 = 630

Ans : $630.

z:v+j =5:9
v+z:j =2:1
total is the same
z:v+j= 15u:27u
v+z: j = 28u:14u
thus z- 15u; v – 13u and j – 14u
thus 2u =30
42u =630
cost of present =$630

note:
3/5 of z = 1/3 of j+v
z’s share =5/9 of j+v

2/3 of jake’s share =1/3 of (z + v) share means jake’s share =1/2 of (z+v) share.

Edit to correct my careless mistake 🙁
