Answer

Suggested answer:

If cost of exercise book is 7 unit, cost of pen will be 3 unit.

1 pen + 1 exercise book = $2.50

3 unit + 7 unit = $2.50

10 unit = $2.50

1 unit =  $2.50/10 = $0.25

3 unit = $0.25 x 3 = $0.75

a) one pen cost $0.75

5 exercise book will cost

5 x 7 unit x $0.25 = $8.75

b) He paid $8.75 for the 5 exercise books
