 # Question

The floor in a restaurant is tiled with identical black, blue and green tiles. 40% of the floor tiles are black. 35% of the remaining tiles are green, and the rest of the 468 tiles are blue.

a) What percentage of the tiles are green?

b)How many tiles in total were used for tiling the restaurant floor?

(a)
100 – 40 = 60
35% x 60% = 21% (green)

(b)
60 – 21 = 39
39% ——-> 468
1% ——-> 12
100% ——-> 1200

Ans : (a) 21%; (b) 1200 tiles.

Black : Remainder

40   :    60

Green : Blue : Total

7      :   13   :  20  (×3)

21     :   39    :  60

Black:Green:Blue:Total

40    :   21   :   39  :  100

a) % green –> (21/100)×100%

= 21%

b) 39u=468

1u = 468÷39

= 12

100u = 100×12

=1200
