# Question

hi, can anyone help us with this qn? tq 🙂

Mr Lim had delivered 340 parcels to Mr Tan. Mr Tan would have to pay Mr Lim \$15 for every parcel safely delivered. Mr Lim would have to pay Mr Tan \$48 for every damaged parcel. If Mr Tan paid a total of \$3966, how many parcels were damaged?

Source: Nan Hua Primary

Assuming all 340 parcels were safely delivered, Mr Tan had to pay 340 x \$15 = \$5100

\$5100 – \$3966 = \$1134

On top of losing \$15 for each damaged parcel, Mr Lim had to pay \$48 as compensation.

\$15 + \$48 = \$63

\$1134 ÷ \$63 = 18 damaged parcels (Ans)

Tq for the assistance!

You are most welcome. Hope it helps! 😊

Assumed all parcels were delivered safely,

Assumed charges = 340 x 15

                                 = 5100

Gap = 5100-3966

         = 1134

Difference = 15+48

                    = 63

Number of damaged parcels = 1134/63

                                                      = 18
