Question

Find two possible pairs of numbers such that the HCF and LCM of each pair of numbers are 21 and 630 respectively.

Answer

HCF = 21

LCM = 630

          = 21 x 30

          = (3 x 7) x (3 x 5 x 2)

Pair #1 : 21 and 630

Pair #2 : (21 x 3) and (21 x 5 x 2)  –> 63 and 210

Pair #3 : (21 x 3 x 2) and (21 x 5)  –> 126 and 105

This is a LCM and HCF question.

21 = 3 × 7

630 = 2 × 3 × 3 × 5 × 7

HCF = 3 × 7

Balance Number 2 × 3 × 5

A = 3 × 7 × 2 × 3 =  126    B  = 3 × 7 × 5 = 105

A = 3 × 7 × 2 = 42              B = 3 × 7 × 3 × 5 = 315

A = 3 × 7 × 2 × 5 = 210      B = 3 × 7 × 3 = 63
