1)Diana takes 4 mins to fold an origami. Jane takes 6 mins to fold an origami. If they take at the same time, How Long will it take for both girls to fold 30 such origami’s?

In 1 min,

D –> 1/4 origami

J –> 1/6 origami

D + J –> 1/4 + 1/6

= 3/12 + 2/12

= 5/12

? Time taken 1 origami = 12/5

= 2.4

? Time taken for 30 origami = 30 × 2.4 min

= 72 min (ans)

In 1 min,
Diana ——-> 1/4
Jane ——-> 1/6
Diana and Jane ——-> (1/4) + (1/6) = 5/12
30/(5/12) = 30 x (12/5) = 72

Ans : 72 min.

This is an Inverse Proportion question.

 1  minute Diana 1/4 Jane 1/6 Total 5/12

5/12u = 1 minute

30u = 30 ÷ 5/12 = 72 minute

This question requires that you find the Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) of the 2 girls time:

4min = 2 x 2

6 min = 2 x3

LCM = 2 x 2 x 3 = 12 min

Every 12 minutes, Diana will make 3 cranes + Jane will make 2, so 5 cranes/12min.

To make 30 cranes, they would thus need 6 x 12 min = 72 min.
