A jar 1/6 filled with beads has a mass of 2 1/2kg. when it completely filled with beads, it has a mass of 6 1/2kg. what is the mass of the jar? express your answer in its simplest form.

Answer

jar + 1/6 bead ——- 2 1/2 kg
jar + 6/6 bead ——- 6 1/2 kg
5/6 bead ——- 4 kg
6/6 bead ——- 4 4/5 kg
6 1/2 – 4 4/5 = 1 7/10

Ans : 1 7/10 kg.

This is a Simultaneous Equation. 

   Jar   beads  total 
R1   1 1u 2 1/2
R2 6u 6 1/2
R2 – R1  0 5u 4

5u = 4

1u = 4/5

2 1/2 – 4/5

= 2 5/10 – 8/10

= 1 7/10 kg
