(a)
100% – 20% = 80% —> 3
100% —> 3.75
3.75 – 3 = 0.75
1 – 0.75 = 0.25 (Henry at first)
3.75 : 0.25
15 : 1

(b)
Jason’s marbles : Henry’s marbles : total
3 : 1 : 4
27 units : 9 units : 36 units (After Jason gave 20% of his marbles to Henry)

5 : 4 : 9
20 units : 16 units : 36 units (After Jason lost some marbles to Henry)

20 units – 16 units = 4 units ——- 16
1 unit ——- 4
27 units = 108

Ans : (a) 15 : 1; (b) 108 marbles.

This is a Before After question

3/1 = 27/9

5/4 = 20/16

   Before  transfer  After
Jason    27u -7u 20u
Henry 9u +7u 16u
Total 36u   36u

20u – 16u =16

4u = 16

1u = 16÷ 4 = 4

27u = 27 × 4 = 108
