Question

12) The population, x, of a certain micro-organism, after t hours, is given by the formula

x = 200 + 200 e^0.2t

inital population = 400      population after 24hrs = 24502

(iv) Calculate the average rate of increase of the population on the first 24 hours.

Answer

Population increased = 24502 – 400 = 24102

242102/24 = 1004.25 per hour.

This is a linear average.

In E Maths, we have the distance time graph. To find the average speed , we use Total Distance over Total Time.
