      1u = 180÷4

            = 45 (ans)

b) tiers for 5 tiers drawers -> 45 × 5

                                                  = 225

    Tiers for 3 & 4 tiers drawers -> 682 – 225

                                                        = 457

   No of 3 & 4 tiers drawers = 180 – 45

                                                  = 135

   Assumed all 4 tiers drawers 

   Assumed tiers -> 135 × 4

                              = 540

    Large difference -> 540 – 457

                                  = 83

      Small difference -> 4 – 3

                                    = 1

      No of 3 tiers drawers -> 83 ÷ 1

                                            = 83 (ans)

Let no. of three-tiered drawers be x, four-tiered be y, five-tiered be z.

Total no. of tiers = 3x +4y +5z =682

Total no. of drawers = x + y + z = 180

3x + 4y = 3(5z) = 15z,

use simultaneous equation to solve (a) and (b) since we have 3 equations.
