# Question

Pls help me to solve 16b. Thanks.

(a)
3 + 1 = 4
180/4 = 45

(b)
45 x 5 = 225 (tiers for five-tiered storage drawers)
682 – 225 = 457 (tiers for three – and four-tiered storage drawers)
180 – 45 = 135 ((number of three- and four-tiered drawers)

135 x 4 = 540 (assuming all are four-tiered storage drawers)
540 – 457 = 83

or
135 x 3 = 405 (assuming all 135 are three-tiered drawers)
457 – 405 = 52 (number of four-tiered storage drawers)
135 – 52 = 83

Ans : (a) 45 five-tiered storage drawers; (b) 83 three-tiered storage drawers.

a) 3 & 4 tiers : 5 tiers

3           :      1

4u = 180

1u = 180÷4

= 45 (ans)

b) tiers for 5 tiers drawers -> 45 × 5

= 225

Tiers for 3 & 4 tiers drawers -> 682 – 225

= 457

No of 3 & 4 tiers drawers = 180 – 45

= 135

Assumed all 4 tiers drawers

Assumed tiers -> 135 × 4

= 540

Large difference -> 540 – 457

= 83

Small difference -> 4 – 3

= 1

No of 3 tiers drawers -> 83 ÷ 1

= 83 (ans)

This is a Quantity Each Product Question.

 Quantity Each Product 5 tier 1u = 45 5 225 4 tier 135 – 1a 4 540 – 4a 3 tier 1a 3 3a total 4u = 180 682

a)

4u = 180

1u = 180÷ 4 = 45

b)

180 – 45 = 135

540 – 4a + 3a = 682 – 225

540 – 457 = 1a

1a = 83

Let no. of three-tiered drawers be x, four-tiered be y, five-tiered be z.

Total no. of tiers = 3x +4y +5z =682

Total no. of drawers = x + y + z = 180

3x + 4y = 3(5z) = 15z,

use simultaneous equation to solve (a) and (b) since we have 3 equations.
