area of the figure = (1/2) x 7 x 4 + (1/2) x 4 x (7 – 4) + (4 x 4) = 36

Ans : 36 sq cm.

The perimeter of the rectangle GHJK is 256 cm. Its length is 3 times as long as its breadth. Find the area of the shaded triangle.

256/2 x (3 + 1) = 32 (breadth)
32 x 3 = 96 (length)
(1/2) x 96 x 32 = 1536

Ans : 1536 sq cm.
