Question

Answer

(a)
diameter of circle = 50/2 = 25
3 m = 300 cm
300/25 = 12

(b)
area of cardboard = (25 x 12) x 25 = 7500
area of 12 identical circles = 12 x 3.14 x (25/2) x (25/2) = 5887.5
7500 – 5887.5 = 1612.5

Ans : (a) 12 identical circles; (b) 1612.5 sq cm.

a) Diameter of circle = 50cm/ 2 = 25cm

Number of circles that can be cut = 300cm / 25cm = 12 (ans)

b) Total area of cardboard = 300cm x 25cm = 7500 cm2

Radius of circles = 25cm/ 2 = 12.5cm

Total area of circles = 12 x πr2 = (12 x 3.14 x 12.5 x 12.5) cm2 = 5887.5 cm2

Area of leftover cardboard = (7500 – 5887.5) cm2 = 1612.5 cm2 (ans)
