John used 1/5 of his weekly allowance to buy a storybook. He gave 1/2 of it to his parents and saved the rest. He managed to save $6 every week. How much was his weekly allowance ?

(1/5) x 10 = 2 (storybook)
(1/2) x 10 = 5 (parents)
10 – 2 – 5 = 3
(6/3) x 10 = 20

Ans : $20.

1/2 = 5/10

   Book  parents  save total

3u = 6

1u = 6 ÷ 3 = 2

10u = 10 × 2 = $20
