Question

Answer

yellow : 20 units
red : 8 units
total : 28 units

1 – (3/4) = 1/4 (yellow used)
(1/4) x 20 units = 5 units (yellow used)
1 – (3/8) = 5/8 (red used)
(5/8) x 8 units = 5 units (red used)
(5 + 5)/28 = 5/14 of the total amount of paint bought was used to make orange paint

Ans : 5/14 of the total amount of paint bought was used to make orange paint.

From “She used the same amount of yellow paint and red paint”, 1/4 (yellow used) = 5/8 (red used).
