Answer

(a)
4 x 7 = 28
9 x 7 = 63 (for 28 roses)
6 x 4 = 24 (for 28 carnations)
63 – 24 = 39
117/39 = 3
3 x 28 x 2 = 168

(b)
LCM of 9 and 6 is 18
18/9 = 2
2 x 4 = 8 (stalks of roses)
18/6 = 3
3 x 7 = 21 (stalks of carnations)
fraction of the stalks of flowers she bought were roses is 8/(8 + 21) = 8/29

Ans : (a) 168 stalks of flowers; (b) 8/29.
