Question

Fahmy and Ezra started running from the same place in opposite directions along a straight path. Fahmy ran at a speed of 145m/min and Ezra ran at a speed that was 35m/min slower than Fahmy. Both ran for the same length of time and did not change their speed throughout. At the end of the run, Fahmy had ran a distance of 525m more than Ezra. How far apart were they at the end of their run?

Answer

Fahmy’s speed = 145 m/min

Ezra’s speed = 110 m/min

525/35 = 15 min

Both ran for 15 minutes.

Ezra ran 110 x 15 = 1650 m

Fahmy ran 1650 + 525 = 2175 m

1650 + 2175 = 3825

They were 3825 m apart.
