If you let the width of the rectangle be W and using the markings you made for U,
Area of A & C = (0.5 x 3U x W) + (0.5 x U x W) = 0.5 x 4U x W = 2 UW
Similarly, area of B & D = 0.5 x 4U x W = 2UW
Therefore, area of A+C = Area of B+D = 400 cm2
=> Area of triangle D = 400 cm2 – 225 cm2 = 175 cm2
