Da Ren has 10 candies. Elijah has 30 candies. Faith has 4 fewer candies than the average number of candies Da Ren, Elijah and Faith have. How many candies do they have altogether?
Can you explain why is the solution the following:

30-4=26

26+10= 36

36/2= 18

18×3=54
