Hi AnikaP

We first have to manipulate the ratios to complex forms so that it is easier to work with.

We have chosen to ‘change’ Nate from 6 units to 30 units because, it is easier to get 30 % of 30. It is the lowest common multiple of 6 and 30. What we do is, we multiply ‘5 : 2 : 6′ by 5. We get “25 : 10 : 30’

30% of 30 is 9 units.

The ratio in the end should look like the one above. Nate gives away 9 units to Lee and Mathew. We know that Matthew has his amount increased by 60%, so therefore, increased by 6 units ( because 60% of 10 is 6). And the remaining 3 units should go to Lee. ( because 9 – 3 = 6)

Following my steps, the answers for a and b should be derived!

Hope this solution provided above helps!
