Answer

A florist ordered some flowers. (6) 800 of the flowers were tulips while the rest were roses.

(1) 2/5 of the roses were red.  (2) 1/2 of the remaining roses were white and the rest of the remaining roses were blue. (4) Given that 10% of the flowers were blue roses, (7) how many flowers did she order?

Red R: Total R: Remain R: White R: Blue R: Tulips: Total flowers

2        :   5         :    3                                                                                              x2

                             2             :      1        :     1                                                         x3

4        :   10       :    6             :      3       :      3    :     20   :      30

                                                                             (800)       (?)

                                                                    1    :             :      10                          x3

20u = 800

30u = 800 / 20 x 30

         = 1200
