Visited on 19.10.2016 - centre located in United Square. Easily accessible by MRT, buses and taxis. Looking in from the outside - the space looked like a Violin Shop until you see kids and their aunties walking in and out. Went in to make enquires - there was 1 customer service agent behind the counter - she was on the phone - she did not acknowledgement our presence. We waited for a little bit - then we were attended to by another customer service agent Alfie - who came back from outside. There was no eye contact or "Can I help you?" - we had to make our presence known by saying "we would like to make some enquires".

This music school provides Violin, Viola, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Drums, Percussion and Vocal lessons - individual and group/ ensemble,

Their fees are based on category of the teacher (Cat 1 teachers have been with the school for less than 5 years/ Cat 2 teachers are seniors - 5 years and above and Cat 3 teachers - are mostly directors) , duration (30, 45 and 60 minutes), weekday/ weekend, group/ individual.

The trial class prices are steep - between 50-65% of the course fees. However, the trial fees will be counted towards the fees when you sign up. Fees are charged monthly - based on 4-5 lessons.

I know of this enrichment school because of their Suzuki Violin Programme with Ms. Sylvia Khoo. She is a known name in the Violin world. There's an interview process to get into her violin class. Both parent and child will be have to be interviewed/ audition. It's not for all - it's a commitment for both parent & child and can be quite stressful for some. What is the Suzuki Method - Parent Involvement - they attend the lessons with the child and serve as "home teachers" during the week. The parent has to learn and understand what the child is expected to do. The program starts young - between 2.5-4 years old - its mostly thru listening and repetition. They are taught basic technical competence on their instrument then taught to read music.

A rating of 2 for effectiveness of service - based on customer service.
