At Learning By The Park we take this reflection to heart.  It is a privilege and a joy to be entrusted with opening the world to little ones.  In return we receive the very special reward of seeing new things all the time through the eyes of our children.

Every child that comes to us is loved, respected and nurtured with every effort taken to respond to his unique individuality.  We care for our preschoolers, growing their minds and spirits, and making their early years memorable in the tradition of Pat’s Schoolhouse.

The facility

We are situated in a custom-built structure within the security of a private residential building, Pearl Bank Apartments.  The centre has a wonderful sense of space and is especially attractive because of its proximity to Pearl Hill’s Park and its lovely trees.

Outdoor time is always exciting with so much to do at the high quality wooden play-structure, cycle track, sand pit and garden.

Indoors, the two-storey space is cosy yet stimulating, with windows looking out to varied views of greenery, high-rises and roads.  Classrooms are open so the children may move confidently and freely among the spaces.

The approach to learning

The strength of a Pat’s Schoolhouse curriculum is its emphasis on meaningfully conducted activities that capture the children’s imagination and creativity so that learning is always an absorbing experience.

The children’s minds are engaged with a wide variety of themes throughout the year and the subjects explored are encyclopaedic in range. From languages to math, science to art, geography to music, the aim is always to provide learning experiences that are appropriate to the child’s stage of development, meaningful to his experience of his world, and challenging enough to extend his potential into the next level.

Teachers, care-givers and housekeepers

All personnel at the center know each and every child well. We work together interdependently to give seamless service to our children.

Directed by Mrs Pauline Koe, (BA Hons, Dip. Ed) and supervised by Ms Low Chin Chin (Specialist Dip. Early Childhood, Ngee Ann Poly), our English and Chinese teachers are all qualified at various levels.  In addition, a specialist Chinese Speech and Drama teacher gives weekly lessons to the Nursery through Kindergarten classes.

A care-giver is at hand to help with the routine care of toddlers and our cook and cleaner give exemplary service in their own capacities. Together, the team ensures an atmosphere of co-operation and team spirit that makes the center a happy, cheerful place.
