Pibo’s Garden Playschool
Child care, Kindergarten/Preschool
1, Dunearn Close, Singapore 299574
Our Objectives
To build a child’s self esteem by providing loving care and develop confidence through various activities. Based on the British curriculum, our programme is tailored for varying ages and stages of maturity to ensure they develop at their own pace.
Pibo’s two centres are conveniently located in the Bukit Timah area in a single storey cottage with ample outdoor play area and individual classrooms. The school environment is designed with learning corners and the children can move about freely and take advantage of all our facilities. We also provide Water play and Sand play.
A mix of expatriate and local, well trained, experienced and innovative teachers who are all committed to stimulating your child’s mental and physical development and providing them with love and care.
Our Principal
Bronia Birkbeck trained in the U.K gaining an NNEB and a Diploma in Montessori Education. She is also trained in special needs. She grew up in Singapore and wanted her children to have the same experience and so moved back in 1993. Whilst looking for a school for her eldest of three children she found that none actually allowed the child to do things for themselves incase they got dirty. Understanding that allowing the child to do things for themselves is the only way to learn she opened up one herself. Allowing them to paint, play with water and playdoh, although allowing the child to get messy, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt so much faster. She has been running the school for 12 years now and has never looked back.
Toddlers
Aged from 18 months to 2 1/2 years affectionately called Puddleducks by the teachers. They learn independent and social skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Enhanced with water play, painting, music awareness and trips out, they learn curiosity, independence and self awareness.
Playgroup
An active group of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years old roam their own classroom with an attached garden. They can play with their pet rabbit and splash around in a water pool.
They each have one to one time on their own computer, serving to introduce them to the tool and develop their fine motor skills.
Nursery
This group of 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 year’s regular educational curriculum is enhanced by an enrichment syllabus.
The children have swimming lessons and field trips. In the class room they are encouraged to learn computer skills with supervision.
Reception
Aged 3 1/2 to 4/12 year olds, with the introduction to reading, writing and mathematical skills, our children are well prepared and confident when they move into primary school.

Imaginative Play
Come join in the fun.
Monday and Wednesday afternoons, from 2pm – 3pm
Come and play shop keepers, chefs or fashion designers.
Imaginative play opens up the child’s mind to fantasy, imagination and real life, allowing them to make up their own storylines to act out.
It helps the child to create play situations with simple materials. Let the child learn for themselves on how to explore their environment with activities that develop their imaginative minds.
All afternoon programmes follow the term times.
Art Appreciation & Creativity
Unfortunately when a child is taught art at school, they must abide by a strict curriculum. This restricts the child in the development in personal creativity. Working in a classroom on the same project can make the child feel inadequate, as the work is constantly compared to the child sitting next to them. We, on the other hand, will help the child to discover individually what kind of art they excel in, i.e. abstract, blending techniques, portraits, landscapes, shading etc. The course will also cover:
- Learning about colour techniques.
- How to paint from your imagination.
- Learning how to be unique and being proud of your masterpieces.
- Introduction to acrylics and canvas.
- Learning which brush to use for which medium and how to take care of your equipment.
- Learning to be confident in what you paint . Respecting your work and others.
- Painting through music and emotion.
- Relaxation techniques, allowing the child to paint from the heart.
Wet and Wild
Each Tuesday the children will strip off and enjoy an afternoon of water games and activities. We will be putting the paddling pools out and each child is able to enjoy an afternoon of fun with water pistols, water slides and team games. Bring along your wet suit, sun cream, sun hat and towel and see how wet you can get the teachers.
Music and Dance
This takes place on Thursday. Research has shown, early experiences with music set the stage for success in language reading and maths. Children will be able to experience different types of music and sounds, make their own instruments and be introduced to different instruments and the sounds they make. They will also be introduced to different types of dance from different parts of the world. This is a good form of exercise and fun. They will also be able to develop their own creativity by making up their own songs and dances helping them develop confidence and self pride.
