Bishan Schools Phase 2A Projections
Submitted by Chief Kiasu
We look at schools at potential Phase 2A balloting rish in Bishan. This is one of the most competitive regions in Singapore, as the number of schools is small (only 3) and 2 of them are amongst the most contentious in Singapore
- We subtract 20 places from Phase 2A (ie. Phase 2A(1) + Phase 2A(2)).
- We added the application rates for Phase 2A(1) + Phase 2A(2).
- We then divided this number by the total take-up rate for Phase 2A(1) + Phase 2A(2).
ie. Intensity = application rate/take-up rate - We repeated the same process for the last 5 years.
- Finally, we sort the results according to the school with the highest application rate in 2021.
It is difficult to say who is the top contender here, and I will say that both Catholic High and Ai Tong are pretty much tied. Both schools would have required balloting in Phase 2A in the last 5 years, and will most likely need balloting in 2022. The only “good” news is Ai Tong is only missing 20 places or less in 2021, so the balloting might be not so intense.
The good news is: Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary is only slightly over 73% full in 2018, and that is the year for Dragon kids, and is less than 50% full in 2021, so it is quite unlikely to require balloting in 2022. So I will strongly recommend to parents who are eligible for Phase 2A to go for KCP Primary.
