Hello to all parents looking to enrol their kids in this year's P1 Registration!

The process will start on 30 June and end on 27 August

The total number of places this year is 38,548 compared to last year's 40,008.  So we have a difference of -1,460 places. Ouch.

Also, according to the Ministry of Education, looking at the birth rates over the last few years, we will continue to trend downwards. :(

In the table below, we compare this year's (2026) vacancy rate of each school compared with last year's (2025).

The most notable fact is that Nanyang Primary, easily Singapore's top primary school, has 30 places or 1 class removed. This will be bad news for those vying for places in the school.

Other schools that may raise some eyebrows are:

  • Red Swastika (-30 places)

  • Maha Bodhi (-30 places)

  • Rulang (-30 places)

  • Tao Nan (-30 places)

These are schools which are traditionally oversubscribed, and even though the number of places may be lower this year, the number of parents looking for these schools is unlikely to be lower.

On the positive side, you have:

  • Kong Hwa (+10 places)

  • Gongshang (+40 places)

  • Maris Stella High (+60 places)

Best of luck to all those involved in this year's registration.  It will be a long process, but the feeling of getting your child into your desired school is immeasurable.
